But cells also need regulatory systems to determine which genes should be active. Those systems are part of the epigenome. As cells age, patterns of gene regulation can change. It provides experimental support for the idea that aged cells retain recoverable information. But it does not prove the theory explains all human aging. π— π—˜π—‘πŸ―πŸ± π—§π—”π—žπ—˜π—”π—ͺ𝗔𝗬 The fascinating idea is not β€œDNA gets old.” It is that cells may lose access to youthful instructions while retaining the underlying information. π—§π—›π—˜ 𝗕𝗒𝗧𝗧𝗒𝗠 π—Ÿπ—œπ—‘π—˜ Epigenetic reprogramming is promising biology. Whether it becomes practical medicine remains an open question.
